PAPER to light its final match?
Boston party dwindles in the summer heat

A conventional Thursday evening at Harper’s Ferry is
chock full of sweatily-clad bodies spastically swaying
back-and-forth to heterogeneous electro-dance beats.
The Boston area dance party, PAPER, scintillates the
indie scene and provides the young people of the Bay
area with an outlet to release their freshest and
funkiest moves.
June 12th, however, told a different story.
PAPER often jump-starts the evening with a few opening
bands. This week, two local bands, The Venetia Fair
and The Urgency, were accompanied by Pennsylvania-native
headliners, Innerpartysystem.
The crowd was sparse upon the evening’s inauguration,
drawing a weak number racking in close to fifty. By
the time Innerpartysystem took the stage, however, the
amount had gradually expanded to a more-impressive lot
rounding two-hundred. The band got the crowd moving
into its routine array of flailing arms and shimmying
shoulders as the well-acquainted scent of perspiration
began to fill the air.
Following their set came an imaginary gust of air that
seemed to drag out with it well over half the crowd.
People seemed to be more interested in inching their
way out of the venue instead of sticking around for
the once-beloved dance party put on by regular guest
DJ’s Savant and E-MARCÉ.
Looks like we can stand with feet firmly planted on
the dock we call Harper’s Ferry and wave goodbye to
its departing ship, formerly known as PAPER.
